LMN Datasheet(PDF) – National Semiconductor (TI)
Any help is appreciated. According to the datasheet, if you tie the strobe pin to GND then the output should be disabled. Submitted by admin on 6 March Most Active Software Boards: The simplified schematics of the IC is shown below: I expect the output datashedt oscillate between 0 and 1 at the “zero crossing” of the signal. If the voltage at the Non-Inverting Terminal pin 2 is higher than the Inverting Terminal pin 2the output pin 7 will also be high else the output will be low.
The problem is that tying the strobe pin to ground should make the output stop changing, and it isn’t. When not in daatasheet the pins 5 datasheef 6 should be shorted as shown above.

Message 4 of 5. You can note that the Output voltage stays high when pin 2 has higher voltage than pin 7 and vice versa. A sample circuit is shown below in which the Inverting Terminal is set to 2. The output is correct as seen on the scope. I just built the circuit in real life and it works exactly as I thought, putting GND on the strobe pin makes the output a constant state at Vcci.

Multisim and Ultiboard
Message 1 of 5. Dataaheet tried adding in a transistor with a 1k resistor to ground and a TTL signal at the base as per the datasheet and this doesn’t disable the output either. Message 5 of 5. LMN Comparator with Strobe.
The pins 5 and 6 on the Op-amp are used to set the balance voltage if you want to manually adjust the DC-Offset voltage. Why is it not working in Multisim? All of those comparator outputs should be a high state which means the LED will turn on connected through the 1K resistor to Vcc.
This pin is connected to the ground of the system Negative voltage can also be used. An Emitter Llm311n Circuit is shown below. TL — Programmable Ml311n Voltage.
The simplified schematics of the IC is shown below:. You can refer the other possible circuits from the LM datasheet given at bottom. The problem is datasheeet the strobe pin is not working for the model. As grounding unused pins is a practice on electronics, I guess it was the way of the designer to make sure the device was not disabled for a ground wired to that pin.
Could the component model be the issue? Message 3 of 5. I built a simple circuit using the LMN comparator. Auto-suggest helps you quickly narrow down your search results by suggesting possible matches as you type. Normally these pins are not used since the Input Offset itself is much better controlled. Attached is a Multisim file with every comparator with a strobe feature available in Multisim and a picture of the circuit.
Any Op-Amp can be made to work as a voltage comparator, but the LM proves itself to be advantages by housing an Output Transistor inside its package.
The LM can work on a Single supply voltage or in a dual supply mode. The transistor can also make the Load lm311h be isolated from the system ground, so if you are looking for a Voltage comparator to drive loads of these specifications then this IC might be the right choice for you.
