Kevin, Paul, Kim, Jennifer and Dave are all extremely believable characters, indeed Kay is careful even before we get into the fantasy world to make certain that we know something of the background of each of them and where they come from.

I mean, quite the weight of the world itself hint: I can see the beginnings of some of tye favorite books here. I found all my treee assessments of the characters, the morose one, the grumpy summed, the bubbly girl, quite inadequate, just as they would be were I meeting these people in reality, indeed as a postgraduate student myself I found empathizing with the characters all the easier.

Next The Fionavar Tapestry Book 2: Don’t love it, but I do like it, a little. However, this book was written fuonavar earlier than the ones I have previously read, so I was a bit worried going in to it. But then that done, he seems to just give it up until the end.

A time of celebration of the soul, despite not being sure if it will live up to the expectations at the end.

The Fionavar Tapestry is an epic, old school style fantasy trilogy. Listen to something that moves you while you read it, something that has its roots in loss and sacrifice but also in love, and I suspect it’ll be seared into your memory more than a decade from now as well.

It was slow and the general pacing could have been much improved, whether by actual plot or just the illusion of things happening, but once I got over that, I discovered that the whole book was nothing more than a novel about character discovery. View all 17 comments.

I also noticed a little inconsistency in the way some of the five spoke, in that sometimes their language would match the slightly archaic style of the residents of Fionavar, sometimes be more like modern English, this I could’ve understood if it were gradual or something they picked up over time, but it didn’t seem to bear any particular kind of pattern, indeed while there is some reason that one of the students due to what they undergo would speak as the fionavae of Fionavar do, with the others it is a little less certain.
