French handles it very well, with Ahriman desperately searching for the Athenaeum of Kalimakus, sorcrrer lost artifact of high value to his legion. It was said that this work was one of the most complete treatises on psykers, witchcraft and sorcery in the galaxy, a compilation of all the knowledge and experiments gathered by Magnus during the conquests the Thousand Sons made for the Imperium during the Great Crusade.
Dec 12, Michael Dodd rated it it was amazing. Ayriman Ahriman the Council of Nikaea felt more like a trial of the Thousand Sons, and his sense of angry betrayal and disillusion at the turn of events was made all the more keen sircerer the fact that the first person to step forth and accuse the Thousand Sons of malign practices was his supposed ally and colleague, Othere Wyrdmake.
A master of subtle manipulation, Ahriman has seeded cults on a hundred worlds, and bent the desires of the powerful to achieve his ends. While many choose to describe Chaos as a living infection, some virulent thing which crawls between the pages, the nature here makes it cold and oddly ethereal; a theme which befits the nature of the Thousand Sons in this story.
It is rumoured that if Ahriman ever gained entry into the Black Library, he could use the information contained socerer it to become a new and aahriman Chaos God within the Warp. M41, Ahriman was summoned back to the Planet of the Sorcerers by Magnus the Red himself for the first time since the casting of the Rubric.

Feb 17, David rated it really liked it Shelves: This time the Arch-Sorcerer bypassed the sanctum’s Harlequin defenders and spectral guardians by projecting himself inside the Black Library’s halls, allowing his physical body to transcribe onto hermetic parchment what his astral self sees. During the subsequent Siege of the Fenris Systemthe two fought together in mutual vengeance against the hated Space Wolves.

The answer may lie within the mysterious artefact known as the Athenaeum of Kallimakus, a grimoire of forgotten lore which is reputed to contain the exact words of the lost Book of Magnus – or, perhaps, even a transcription of the primarch’s deepest and most secret thoughts. I look forward to a triumphant end to this trilogy. It allows the series to better stand out on its own, and as we grow to see some of these characters develop and shape this mini-verse, it permits French more freedom.
Totally recommend this trilogy to 40k fans and yet-to-be 40k fans.
